Climate@Home is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in Climate. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer. Participants need no special training to get involved in Climate@Home .
All they need is a desktop computer or laptop. Volunteers will be able to download the computer model to run on their computers as a background process whenever the computers are on, but not used to their full capacity.

The climate model that volunteers download is made up of mathematical equations that quantitatively describe how atmospheric temperature, air pressure, winds, water vapor, clouds, precipitation and other factors all respond to the Sun's heating of the Earth's surface and atmosphere. Models help predict how the Earth's climate might respond to small changes in Earth's ability to absorb sunlight or radiate energy into space.

ClimateatHome 10.0 was released

Dear Volunteers, Thanks for donating your computing resource to the NASA&GMU Climate@Home Project [climateathome.com] We are pleased to announce to release climateathome 10.0 today. The new version can work in Windows x86_64, Apple i686/x86_64 and Linux X86_64 platforms. In addition, we also published 300 tasks today. Each task needs 2.5-10 days to finish. It has some new features and change to use a new signature file. Hence, I kindly request you to reset the project if there is running task for this project in your boinc client. If there is signature problem when you reset your project, please remove the project and add it again. The project will upload results files every hour and the progress bar will change every 30 mins to 2 hours to show the running status. If you find the progress bar doesn't change, please send your report to kliu.gis@gmail.com or publish the report in [climateathome.com]
