PrimeGrid Database Crash
At around 1609 UTC on Thursday, August 1st, PrimeGrid suffered an unrecoverable database crash which corrupted the BOINC database. We were unable to repair the database, or salvage the data.

We had to restore the database from last night's backup. The BOINC server was brought back on line at approximately 2120 UTC, with everything after the backup (at 0800 UTC) essentially having been erased.

Sobald der Port von Mega bei PRPnet leer ist, wird das Projekt beendet. Das kann aber noch ca. 3 Jahre dauern je nach Teilnahme.

Seit diesem Monat wird bei allen llr-Projekten die v3.8.13 eingesetzt. Da diese Version die CPU mit AVX voll ausreizt und die Temperaturen um +10°C steigen, sollte man über eine ausreichende Kühlung verfügen, von Stockcoolern sollte man die Finger lassen.

Die Generalized Fermat Prime Search wurde jetzt aufgeteilt/erweitert und zwei neue OpenCL-GPU-Anwendungen für ATI und NVidia helfen dabei:
Genefer 32768 gilt für n=15: die WUs sind sehr kurz (nur wenige Minuten) und geben deshalb auch eher vergleichsweise "wenig" Credits.
Genefer 65536 gilt für n=16: WUs sind schon ca. doppelt so lang, Credits deutlich höher.
Für n=21 wird die bereits bekannte Genefer 3.08 benutzt.
Die neuen Apps sind zwar noch Beta, laufen aber schon recht gut und flüssig, zumindest auf meinen beiden CUDA-Rechnern hab ich keine Probleme.
Wie's bei ATI aussieht, kann ich nicht sagen. ;-)

Die entsprechenden Gegenparts der Anwendungen im PRPNet werden in Kürze abgeschaltet, wenn die Tests unter BOINC erfolgreich verlaufen sind.

GFN 131072 (Low) and GFN 131072 (Mega)
We have opened up the n=17 (131072) GFN range on BOINC -- not just once, but twice!

In addition to the normal 131072 (aka "Low") range, we've also opened up a second 131072 range starting at a very high b -- just high enough so the numbers are at least a million digits long. Since these are crunchable with the new OCL2 GPU app, this makes it one of the fastest mega-prime searches available.

Und noch zwei weitere Anwendungen kommen bei GFN hinzu, für N=17 gibt's eine für den unteren Bereich und eine für den Bereich mit sehr hohen b - hoch genug, daß die Zahlen mindestens eine Million Ziffern lang sind. Da sie mit der neuen OCL2 GPU-Anwendung laufen, gehören sie zu den schnellsten Mega-Prime-Suchen.

Gute Neuigkeiten, Lennart kommt zurück, ich hoffe er hat die Rechenpower wie vorher oder besser. Sein Gesundheitszustand hat sich wohl verbessert, keine Ahnung was er hat/hatte aber ich wünsche Ihm alles Gute, bis dahin:

AP27 ist in Planung für OpenCl, ebenso eine PS3 app, da die AP26 auf einer PS3 gefunden wurde. Aufgrund der letzten Entwicklung der GPUs wird der nächste Fund nicht allzulange dauern.

Wer's noch nicht im PG-Forum gelesen hat:
Die AP27-Suche wird wohl badgemäßig in die AP26 miteingehen, was bedeutet, daß alle, die hier nicht genug für ihr gewünschtes Badge crunchen konnten, wieder eine Chance haben.
Es wird sowohl eine CPU- als auch eine GPU-Variante geben, wobei die GPU-Variante möglicherweise nur für High-End-Karten mit viel Speicher geeignet ist (1,1 GB RAM sind wohl nötig).

Desweiteren läuft das ESP/PSP/SoB-Sieve-Unterprojekt jetzt nur noch einen Monat:

Die Nvidia Anwendung läuft auf meinen Kisten ganz gut, nebenher arbeiten ist allerdings etwas Laggy. Karten mit 1GB bekommen keine Arbeit zugewiesen.

Die Cullen/Woodall-Sieve ist zurück, diesmal aber als Generalized Cullen/Woodall-Sieve.
Vor wenigen Stunden wurde die App freigegeben und es gibt schon jede Menge zu rechnen. Wenn ich das richtig gelesen habe, findet erstmal ein Double Check der Ergebnisse vom PRPNet statt, bevor es an neue Aufgaben geht.

On 11 December 2016, 20:06:09 UTC, PrimeGrid’s AP27 Search (Arithmetic Progression of 27 primes) found the progression of 26 primes:

142099325379199423+16549135*23#*n for n=0..25

The discovery was made by Koichi Soraku (JG4KEZ(Koichi Soraku)) of Japan using a NVIDIA GTX 1070 on an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5775C @ 3.30GHz with 16GB RAM, running Microsoft Windows 10 Professional. This computer took about 27 minutes to process the task (each task tests 100 progression differences of 10 shifts each). Koichi is a member of the BOINC@MIXI team.

The progression was verified on 12 December 2016 10:44:25 UTC, by Dirk Kraemer (DoctorNow) of Germany using an NVIDIA GTX 760 on an AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 CPU running Microsoft Windows Vista. This computer took about 2 hours 22 minutes to process the task. Dirk is a member of the BOINC Confederation.

Danke, ich freu mich in zweierlei Hinsicht:
1. Daß ich nach zahlreichen AP20 und AP21-Funden und erst einem AP22-Fund (als erster) mal endlich eine höhere erwischt habe, da ist es auch egal, daß ich nur der Doublechecker bin.
